Season Overview

The 2026 FIFA World Cup was the 23rd edition of the FIFA World Cup and the first to feature 48 national teams. It was jointly hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States, making it the first FIFA World Cup hosted by three countries.

The tournament introduced a new format consisting of 12 groups of four teams, followed by a newly added Round of 32, before progressing through the traditional knockout rounds. A total of 104 matches were played across 16 host cities over 39 days.
